自5月底以来，我的家广州遭遇了由Delta变异毒株携来的新的一波疫情。变异病毒传播非常迅猛，传染力很强，紧张的抗疫氛围着实让全市人民的心里都绷紧了弦。


Since the 21st of last month (May 2021), my home, Guangzhou, has encountered a new Covid wave carried by the Delta Variant. The mutated virus spreads very rapidly and has a strong infectious power. For a while, Guangzhou City was gripped by a tense atmosphere.

这一波疫情发生的时间，恰逢是端午节前后，广州进入了闷热、多雷雨的龙舟水时节。为了保障全市人民群众的生命安全，我们的政府、疾控中心、广大医务工作者、党员同志、警务人员、社区工作者、志愿者，还有好多好多的工作人员义无反顾地冲在了防控的第一线。他们用自己的身躯在高温里，在风雨中为人民筑起了一道道坚实的保护墙；用自己扎实的专业素养和不眠不休的强大意志力带领着广大市民群众跑在了病毒的前面。直至我写这篇文稿止，广州本地已经连续9天零新增了。


The arrival time of this new Covid wave coincided with our Dragon Boat Festival. At this time of year, Guangzhou enters the sultry, thunderstorm “dragon boat water” season. In order to protect the lives of the people in the city, our government, the CDC, the medical workers, CPC members, police officers, community workers, volunteers, and many other staff have rushed to the frontline of disease prevention and control without hesitation. In the heat, wind and rain, they use their bodies to build solid walls of protection for the people; with their professionalism and strong willpower, they successfully lead the general public to stay ahead of the virus. Till the time I wrote this article, there have been zero new indigenous Covid cases in Guangzhou for 9 consecutive days.

防疫取得好的成效，除了守护者们领导抗疫有力外，也离不开全体广州市民街坊们积极、耐心、有条不紊的配合。我们每一个广州人都深爱着自己的家园。在过去的一个多月里，以应检尽检为原则，广州实施了多轮大规模核酸检测，并创下了仅用11天就完成了1600万人核酸检测的全球最大规模记录。在病毒面前，我们展现了广州速度，广州的高科技力量，更呈现了我们广州人的团结和英勇无畏精神。


Achieving this great result in such a short time on preventing and controlling the virus, the strong leadership of the city is a must, and it is also inseparable from the active, patient, and methodical cooperation of all the residents of Guangzhou. Every single one of us in Guangzhou loves our home. In the past one month, Guangzhou has implemented multiple rounds of large-scale nucleic acid testing based on the principle of due diligence, and set the world's largest record of 16 million nucleic acid tests completed in just 11 days. Facing the virus, we have demonstrated the speed of Guangzhou, the high-tech power of Guangzhou, and the unity and bravery of our Guangzhou people.

广州是英雄的城市，我们的市花就是英雄花红棉，我以自身出生和成长在这个伟大的城市而感到无比的骄傲和自豪。去年武汉疫情时期，我创作了一幅名为《我想抱抱你们，可爱的人儿》的作品，今年我的家广州遭遇疫情，作为一名本土的艺术创作者，我觉得自己有义务用画笔记录下我们广州自己的抗疫故事。


Guangzhou is a heroic city, and our city flower is the hero flower, the Kapok flower. I am extremely proud of my birth and growth in this great city. During the Wuhan epidemic last year, I created an illustration titled "I want to give you a hug, lovely people". This year, my hometown Guangzhou suffers from this new Covid wave, as a local artist, I feel obligated to record our own story about the fight against the virus in Guangzhou with my abilities.

由此我创作了这幅抗疫作品《广州﹒家园﹒加油》。画的中心元素是一条由医务人员领旗的正在与病毒比赛的龙舟。龙头部位有一面家园旗号的队旗；龙舟的前端由医务人员、警务人员、党员同志、社区工作者、志愿者划桨；龙舟的中部是一位身穿旗袍的红棉姑娘挥舞着“广州加油”的大旗；龙舟后部则依次有虾饺、叉烧包、烧卖、凤爪还有蛋挞划桨，它们代表着热爱饮茶叹点心的广州街坊们；龙舟的尾部则是一位强壮的、身穿防护服执掌龙梢的工作人员，他和飘扬的党旗一起坚定地矗立在风雨之中。龙舟驶过了一众粽子山、广州塔、中山纪念堂、五羊雕像等代表广州的地标，逐渐穿过乌云迎来了灿烂的阳光。我以此作祝愿广州疫情快快过去，我们街坊很快就能踏进茶楼叹挚爱的“一盅两件”。广州，我的家，加油！我爱你！


This is the reason that I created this new artwork "Guangzhou. Home. Stay strong." Led by the medical workers and CPC members, racing against the virus, a solid and beautiful dragon boat which is rowed by our medical staffs, police officers, CPC members, community workers, volunteers, Kapok flower girl and dim sum kids is passing the rolling mountains of Zongzi, a series of Guangzhou landmarks like the Canton tower, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, The Five Goats statue, sailing through the dark clouds and ushering into the bright sunshine.


I want to use this work to wish that the new Covid wave in Guangzhou will be over soon, the bustle of Guangzhou city life which we all miss a lot will come back shortly. Guangzhou, my home, stay strong! I love you!

I also want to make this illustration as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and wish our motherland prosperity forever under the leadership of CPC. China, Stay Strong!
